It's time to put what you've learned to good use!
Apprentices
Four years can seem like a long time, but you will find that time goes by very fast. Before you know it, you will be preparing to finish your apprenticeship and preparing to take your Journeyman Wireman's examination and get your license and finally be able to call yourself an electrician.
We want you to succeed in obtaining your goal of becoming an electrician. This is why we have developed and maintain that practice page. This is also why it is our expectation that every apprentice do at least one practice EVERY week of their four-year apprenticeship. If you do this consistently, you will pass your test with flying colors.
The Importance of Timed Drills
When you are preparing for the Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician exams, you are preparing for a very long test that will push you to your limits. You are not preparing for a knowledge test. You are preparing for a skills test. The skill is your ability to efficiently use the NEC and understand the requirements of the NEC. The only way to prepare for these tests is the same way you would prepare for a marathon.
You don't prepare for a marathon by running the two weeks before a marathon and try to get your body in shape in that short period of time. No, you prepare for a long time by conditioning your body for the marathon. You need to do that for this test also. We have developed 2 minute and Calculations drills for you for that purpose. The process is actually simple, you just need to have the dedication and desire to succeed and then apply that desire to the discipline to do one drill every week for the length of your apprenticeship. If you do this, you will succeed the first time on your test. In fact, you find it to be easy.,
If you instead choose to not practice that way, and train, and try to prepare for your test as you come down the home stretch of your apprenticeship, you will struggle.
It really is just that simple. The choice is yours, prepare and use the resources and advice of those that have gone before you, or struggle and do it your way.
